The Importance Of Surrounding Yourself With Positive People

A few weeks ago, I watched an episode of Shark Tank and the Entrepreneur/Inventor said, "...it’s about proximity.  You have to surround yourself with positive people, if you are surrounded by 4 broke people, you will become the 5th.”  Now, that’s a powerful statement.  Keep that in mind. People can have the strongest effect on our lives.  I believe that you become the people you hang out with.  The people you associate with and share ideas with have a major influence on how you choose to act upon or not act upon your dreams.  We must discipline ourselves to remove the negative people in our lives.  Often we fail to realize how influenced we are by the people we work with, socialize with and spend time with.  The solution to this is quite simple: Surround yourself with the kinds of people you want to be like!
Negative people certainly have a negative effect on the people around them.  People who take efforts to surround themselves with positive people find themselves adopting the attitude of those around them.  On the other hand, it can be very difficult to maintain a positive and happy outlook when you're surrounded by pessimists and people who look for the worst in a given situation.  Psychologists have proven that "habitual association" with critical complaining people can be enough to sabotage all your opportunities for success.  It's important to surround yourself with positive people who encourage and motivate you.  Remove yourself from negative people who bring you down and demotivate you.
In the book Twelve Pillars by Jim Rohn, he discussed the Sixth Pillar of Success: Surround Yourself with the Best People.  Jim recommends that you, "...surround yourself with winners, successful people who exhibit and live consistent to the values and skills you want to acquire and develop."  People that are in your life have an amazing power to influence your destiny.  People with positive energy approach the world with an open heart and a sense of humor.  They refuse to be colored by cynicism and bitterness.  They strive to see the best in the world around them, revel in the success of others and diligently pursue their own goals.  Becoming a positive person today will help you attract more positive people into your life tomorrow.  The more positive people that surround you, the more you'll feel joy, contentment and fulfillment in your own life.
