Sheriff Gee to Present Reserve II Deputies with President's Volunteer Service Awards
Tonight at 7:00 p.m., Sheriff David Gee will present Reserve II Deputies with the President's Volunteer Service Awards in the HSD Roll Call Room located at 2224 N. Falkenburg Road.
The Reserve II deputy program is a uniformed Sheriff's Office support organization open to all persons age 21 and older, on an equal opportunity basis. Reserve II deputies work with regular deputies on various assignments. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office takes great pride in the Reserve II deputy's civic spirit and willingness to serve.
The President's Council on Service and Civic Participation (the Council) was established in 2003 to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourage more people to serve. The Council created the President's Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service. The program continues as an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).
The President's Volunteer Service Award recognized United States citizens and lawfully admitted permanent residents of the United States who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period - or cumulative hours over the course of a lifetime.
Recipients can choose among different options for award recognition:
- The official President's Volunteer Service Award Pin
- A personalized certificate of achievement
- A congratulatory letter from the President of the United States
- A combination of all three of the above
