Starting the Day with the Right Mindset

Make today about starting the day with the right mindset and energy.  It is important to start your day off in a positive state of mind.  Unfortunately, some of the time we feel negative because we are failing to take action.

"Inaction breeds doubt and fear.  Action breeds confidence and courage.  If you want to conquer fear, do not sit and think about it.  Go out and get busy." - Dale Carnegie

Action requires energy, enthusiasm, movement and objectives.  Anything you have ever desired is available to you if you will it.  Success and accomplishing anything has to do with taking action.

First Tip:  Remember why.  With previous blog posts, I've described the importance of your why.  The reason why you do what you do; it can be a great first step to remind you before you fall asleep at night and when you just open your eyes in the morning.  Try it once and I guarantee you will feel the excitement of waking up.  For example, my alarm is set for 4AM so that I have plenty of time for the next 60 minutes, to do my push-ups, walk the dog and freshen up before heading to the gym for one hell of a burn and sweat session.

Second Tip:  Affirm your day.  If you are saying to yourself that great things will happen, or that everything happens for a reason or that I have to learn something today, you will  grow as a person - by the way you see your day differently and encourage positive things to happen.  For example, as a Project Manager, I enjoy communicating with customers and vendors.  Most conversations go well.  But, there are times where I fail in my ability to listen to understand - instead, I listen to reply.  There is a difference!  And, my goal each day is to remind myself of the distinction.

Third Tip:  Do one thing for yourself.  It's great to set up goals when we wake up and do something that we love and feel the sense of accomplishment afterwards.  My daily priority is a great workout session early in the morning and a five mile run after work to "download" and process the day's events and ponder the goals ahead.  I feel enriched by exercise because it's my personal time to achieve my goals and further reflect on my future.  Achieve once and you will build a momentum to achieve the rest of the day, week, month and year.
